Introducer, broker and insurer: the difference

health-quote.co.uk introduces enquiries. A broker handles the insurance discussion; an insurer provides the policy.

General information only, not insurance or medical advice. health-quote.co.uk is an FCA introducer, not a broker or insurer. We do not recommend policies or arrange cover.

What does health-quote.co.uk do?

health-quote.co.uk is a trading name of Beyond Leads Limited, FCA firm reference 940006. Our role is to collect enquiries and introduce them to an FCA-authorised health insurance broker, with the person’s consent.

We are not a broker or insurer. We do not provide advice, assess the suitability of insurance, arrange policies or decide claims.

What does a broker do?

An insurance broker is an intermediary. A broker’s service may include discussing requirements, explaining quotations and arranging a policy. The service and insurers available depend on that broker’s permissions and arrangements.

Our introduction does not mean that every insurer is compared or that a policy is guaranteed. The broker is responsible for explaining the scope of their service.

What does an insurer do?

The insurer provides the insurance policy and is responsible for the policy terms and decisions about cover and claims under that contract. The insurer and broker are not necessarily the same business.

Why the distinction matters

The FCA’s rules distinguish insurance intermediaries from insurance undertakings, and its guidance considers the activities of businesses acting only as introducers. The word ‘introducer’ alone does not describe every business’s regulatory permissions.

Questions about our introduction or the data we collect can be directed to health-quote.co.uk. Questions about a broker’s service or an insurer’s policy belong with the firm providing that service.
